  Interval work makes a great addition to any workout program and can be incorporated into not only the classic cardio exercises but weight training exercises as well. 

Interval Training is basicly a workout broken down into a series of work and rest periods.  There are many ratios to consider, examples being; 1:2  2:2 or 2:1 to name just a few. 

There are also progressive style intervals where you will add time and work; you might start an exercise for 30 seconds then rest 30 seconds, work 60 seconds rest 60 seconds.  These all are great timing methods for Interval Training.
